We were asked to conduct two user tests on the cruise site of our choosing, using the tree testing and card sorting methods. I used the free online testing tools offered by Optimal Workshop—Treejack for tree testing, and OptimalSort for card sorting.
The assignment was split up into two parts:
Part A
Set up the tree test by recreating the cruise site’s menu structure.
Pick three common tasks that a user might want to accomplish on the cruise’s site.
Create your test and conduct it on about 10 users.
Part B
Determine what sort of card sorting technique you will be using (open, closed, hybrid).
Identify 30 navigation links on your cruises website to use for your card sorting study. Be strategic, and focus on your top 1-2 tiers of navigation.
Create your test and conduct it on about 10 users.
Share your results.
